The significant investment and extra effort that went into landscaping and decorating the courses and the facility were applauded by all in 2016 and will again set the stage for World-class Hunter competition including:

  • Two $30,000 USHJA International Hunter Derbies
  • $10,000 USHJA National Derby
  • $10,000 Pre-Green Incentive, in Memory of Joey Darby.

Level 5 Jumper competition will include a $10,000 Welcome Stake and three Country Heir Grand Prix events ($25,000, $30,000 and $40,000) to be held in the Rolex Stadium, home to the Show Jumping Hall of Fame. Popular last year, separate $10,000 Child and Adult Jumper Classics each week will return with increased prize money in 2017.
The Country Heir team values and listens to trainers’ and competitors’ comments and ideas. In response, we have applied for an Equitation Day to be held Tuesday, June 13, between the two shows. This additional ring of competition will coincide with the Country Heir Local Day program; a huge hit last year. Special thanks to Ken and Emily Smith for sponsoring our new Equitation Day.

Another exciting change for 2017 is for our pony hunter exhibitors. We will offer separate Classics in 2017 for each height, giving exhibitors a chance to earn more points.
The tradition continues with the infamous Donkey Races and barbecue for all, as well as several parties. Sunday brunch was a favorite and will remain as a fixture of the show.
Special thanks to last year’s trainers, exhibitors, sponsors, staff and vendors. The Country Heir team looks forward to spending another superb fortnight in Blue Grass Country in June.
