Blowing Rock, N.C. – Aug. 3, 2017 – Board member Missy Luczak-Smith and her husband Doug Smith sponsored the annual $1,000 Equestrian Aid Foundation Hunter Grooms Class at the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show on Sunday, July 30. The class had a record turnout of grooms and their charges, but it was Daniel Gomez who won the top prize with Caroline Moran’s Bacardi, a gleaming, gray KWPN gelding by Casco.
“It was a huge success,” Luczak-Smith said about the Grooms Class.
The top six entries were awarded cash prizes and all class entries received gift certificates to the Coffee Spot on the show grounds. Gomez also took home an Equestrian Aid Foundation jacket, donated by Luczak-Smith from The Clothes Horse. FarmVet, Trailer Fash and the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show all donated prizes.
Luczak-Smith handed out Equestrian Aid Foundation Show You Care lapel ribbons during the event. Top hunter pro Havens Schatt was seen sporting one while competing in the $15,000 Kathryn G. Clark Memorial Challenge Championship. She won the two-round, coveted hunter event aboard Julia McNerney’s Crack.
"My Equestrian Aid Foundation ribbon was good luck," Schatt said.
