Auction Includes Art by Emma Tate, Lisa Marie Bishop and Gus Larossa
WELLINGTON, FL – March 15, 2019 – For connoisseurs of fine art, Brooke USA’s Sunset Polo™ & White Party offers the unprecedented opportunity to bid on the work of internationally acclaimed artists. Held at The Wanderers Club, Friday, March 22, the event will feature artist to the stars Josée Nadeau, equestrian painter Lisa Marie Bishop, ceramic sculptor Emma Tate and Argentine artist Gus Larossa. Nadeau will paint live during the event and the painting she creates will be a highlight of the live auction.
Josée Nadeau is an internationally renowned artist with glamorous acclaim. Her impressionistic style and larger-than-life monumental paintings grace the homes of many collectors, royalty and celebrities like Pierce Brosnan, Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher and her work has been auctioned at Sotheby’s.
Nadeau, a French Canadian, traveled to Europe to study art. She became the protégé of French art expert Gerald Van der Kemp and his wife Florence, an art advocate. Van der Kemp was the curator of Claude Monet’s garden and gave Nadeau the use of his studio. She resided as a guest on the grounds of the Claude Monet garden in Giverny, France. “It was magic,” said Nadeau about her experience in Giverny.
In 1998 Nadeau met the famous Beatle George Harrison, who inspired her to live paint. “Whenever you are with greatness, something can only be good about what can be created after,” Nadeau said. She has painted live for symphony orchestras and for a Dionne Warwick anniversary concert. Her live painting from a polo event on Miami Beach sold to Tommy Kato, who often plays polo with H.R.H. Prince Harry. Her equestrian work has been featured in the windows of Ralph Lauren Polo boutiques and in The Gallery at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Emma Tate is originally from New York but moved to the Netherlands in 2013 to train in dressage. She is now based in Amsterdam where she devotes her time to sculpting. Tate is a member of equine art platform Paard Verzameld led by curator, Joyce Ter Horst. She focuses her work on handmade, surreal ceramic sculptures and is a longtime supporter of Brooke USA.
A former professional equestrian photographer, Lisa Marie Bishop changed direction when she was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease and became legally blind. Remarkably, although she cannot see faces, detail, and some color, she paints with incredible passion, skill and talent. She does not paint the horse but paints the energy and power she feels from them. Bishop's work, both equestrian and mainstream, grace the walls of art collectors worldwide as well as top competitors including Lauren Spreiser, J.J.Tate, Endel Ots, Mary Phelps and Olympians Juan Matute Sr. and Karen O’Connor, to name a few.
Gus Larossa is from Argentina, where he grew up with horses on his family ranch. He began playing polo two years ago and was inspired to create equestrian inspired art. In 2019, his work was exhibited in Wellington and Palm Beach. Larossa uses lines to generate the elegance of horses. Through varied materials, he represents the essence of the horse, and through color, he demonstrates their strength, power and vitality.
“These featured artists are all donating their work to support Brooke USA in its mission to help working horses, donkeys and mules and the people they serve in some of the poorest communities in the developing world,” said Brooke USA Executive Director Emily Dulin. “We are so grateful for their generosity and support. Brooke USA’s Sunset Polo™ & White Party is an exceptional opportunity to bid on an original Nadeau live painting or add the work of Emma Tate, Lisa Marie Bishop or Gus Larossa to your collection.”
