GLADSTONE, N.J. – Aug. 11, 2019 –Monmouth at the Team kicks off at Hamilton Farm, home of the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation headquarters, Aug. 12 and runs through Aug.19. A special exhibition is scheduled for Friday afternoon before the $5,000 Welcome Stake, sponsored by Equine Billing Services. International rider and dressage coach Catherine Haddad Staller will present three of her most talented riders to showcase "The Joy of Dressage," with a special appearance by US Para-Equestrian Dressage rider Katie Jackson.
Haddad Staller has represented the U.S. at two FEI World Cup™ Finals and two FEI World Equestrian Games. She has earned over 150 placings and wins in international competition in North America and Europe. With her husband, Dr. Greg Staller, founder of Running ‘S’ Equine Veterinary Services, she breeds, trains international dressage talent at Khimoni, their facility in Califon, New Jersey.
“The generosity of the horse is far greater than any other being,” Haddad Staller said. “Breathe it in and let it be your inspiration.”
The Joy of Dressage showcases Haddad Staller’s positive approach to training horse and rider and features three of her top riders.
Michelle Brady, 27, from La Grande, Oregon, earned her USDF Gold Medal in 2018. Brady cut her teeth working cattle in the stockyards of La Grande. She became a working student for Haddad Staller in 2012. Brady proved herself as a fast-learner and is an accomplished student of response training and work in hand. She went from groom to top trainer for Team Haddad Staller in only a few years. Brady produced her first Prix St. George horse in 2018 and is well on her way to Grand Prix dressage.
Hope Beerling is 20 and hails from Queensland, Australia, where she is a leading young rider. She won the 2018 FEI Young Horse Championships in Brisbane. Her talent, seat and balance give young horses the confidence to relax and perform their best. Hope shows promise for a future in international competition.
Kate Jackson is 39 from Austin, Texas. She represented the U.S. on the Para-Dressage team at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina. A cancer survivor and amputee, Jackson’s love for horses became her lifeline and inspiration after losing her leg in 2015.
An exceptional talent, Jackson brings balance and precision to every ride. She began training with Haddad Staller in 2018. Haddad Staller’s system of skeletal riding places emphasis on the riding from the seat and weight, without tremendous pressure from the leg. Jackson responded well to is approach from the first lesson.
"We look forward to showcasing these great dressage riders Friday evening at Monmouth at the Team," said, show co-owner Tucker Ericson. "The Hamilton Farm setting is the perfect backdrop to enjoy the equestrian sports and this level of dressage is truly a joy to watch."
